How did Satan become the author of all evil?

By an inner volitional and emotional revolt, expressed with two words: "I will." The most beautiful creature to come from the hand of God turned into a murderer, liar, and deceiver when he decided to act contrary to the revealed will of God. Satan, who like the other angels had free will, rebelled against God. He became enamored with himself and, in his pride and arrogance, decided he wanted to be independent from and equal to his Creator (Isa. 14:12–15).
